The Southwest Taylor Improvements include projects located near the new Samsung factory and are part of the County’s Long-Range Transportation Plan, which is intended to plan for current and future growth by maintaining a high level of safety, mobility, and quality of life for residents and communities.

Segment 1 of Samsung Highway in Williamson County, Texas, opened on October 16, 2023. The four-lane road connects County Road 404 to Farm-to-Market Road 973, and is part of a larger project that will eventually connect Farm-to-Market Road 3349 to FM 973 just south of Samsung’s new semiconductor plant in Taylor.

The opening of Segment 1 is expected to relieve traffic congestion on CR 404, which has seen a significant increase in traffic in recent years due to the growth of the Taylor area. The new highway is also expected to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians in the area.

The Samsung Highway project is funded by Williamson County’s voter-approved 2019 Road Bond. Segment 2 of the highway is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.

Overall, the opening of Segment 1 of Samsung Highway is a positive development for Williamson County residents and businesses. The new highway will help to improve traffic flow and safety in the area, and support the continued growth of the Taylor region.
